I often think about the generations of faithful Catholics who came before us. They built our churches, supported our schools, helped form priests and made sure the Church was there when someone needed it. We may never know many of their names, but we experience the impact of their generosity every day.
What they cared about did not end with them. They found ways to pass it on.
That is really what a legacy is. It is not simply what we leave behind. It is a reflection of what mattered to us during our lives and what we hope will continue because we were here.
For each of us, that may look a little different. It may mean supporting the parish that has been home for decades, helping make Catholic education possible for another generation, supporting our priests and seminarians, or caring for a ministry that has touched our family in a meaningful way.
And creating that impact does not have to wait until someday. There are thoughtful ways to give throughout our lives, through the blessings God has entrusted to us, and through the plans we make for the future.
