Give Today

Ways to Give

There are many ways to give throughout the year. Your support for the diocese, your parish, a Catholic School, or ministry demonstrates your gratitude to God.

When you give a gift to the diocese, your parish, Catholic school or ministry, you demonstrate your gratitude to God for all the gifts with which He has blessed you. You also give witness to others as to the importance of your faith, at the same time blessing the lives of those who will benefit from your generosity.

What to Give

Grain

Turn bushels of grain into a gift and potentially save on taxes and deduct the cost of production. It’s simple! The farmer notifies the elevator that the harvested commodity being delivered or stored is to be given to the Diocese of Salina. The elevator will contact the Diocese of Salina, who will then sell the grain at market rate to the elevator. The elevator will send a check to the diocese. The farmer who donated the grain will receive a gift letter and acknowledgment from the Catholic Foundation for Diocese of Salina. Contact the foundation office for more information.

Stocks

Securities and mutual funds that have increased in value and have been held for more than one year are an easy and tax-effective way for you to make a gift. This can be done as an outright gift, or you can make a transfer on death (TOD) designation on your account, to be paid out after your lifetime.

Cash or Check

Gifts can be made via mail to:

Catholic Foundation for Diocese of Salina
PO Box 1696, Salina KS 67402-1696

IRA

Donating all or part of your unused retirement assets such as a gift from your IRA, 401(k), 403(b), pension, or other tax-deferred plan is an excellent way to make a gift.

Donor Advised Fund

A Donor Advised Fund (DAF) gives you the flexibility to recommend how much and how often money is granted to the Diocese of Salina. You can recommend a grant or recurring grants now to make an immediate impact or use your fund as a tool for future gifts. You can also create a lasting legacy by naming the Diocese of Salina as the beneficiary of the entire account, or a percentage of the fund.

Estate

Plan your estate and charitable giving in a way that benefits you, your family, and the causes that mean the most to you – including your Catholic faith. This can include giving a gift during your lifetime to see the impact of that gift or making a gift in your will (a bequest) to support the future of our Catholic community for generations to come.

Other Gifts

We also accept many other types of assets, like real estate or personal items. Gifts of appreciated real estate can result in significant tax benefits for the donor, particularly if the returns from the property are modest compared to capital gains taxes if the property were sold. Donors of appreciated real estate may be able to deduct the property's full market value.

There are many ways that you can help the Church fulfill its mission with a gift from your assets or your estate. To learn more about what assets to give to help you achieve your charitable giving goals, contact a member of the Catholic Foundation.
